Model United Nations (MUN)

Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations, in which students play the role of diplomats representing different countries from around the world. Students debate real-world problems (for example, the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, nuclear proliferation, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine) and attempt to brainstorm solutions that are formalized into resolutions that are voted upon at the end of conferences. The aim is to draft a resolution that can gain the support of a majority of UN Member States, which is often a difficult task that requires considerable compromise, negotiation, and persuasion. MUN provides students with an opportunity to develop public speaking, critical thinking, research, and writing skills.

UIA’s MUN Club was established at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year after the introduction of a weekly Special Programs class in which students prepare for upcoming MUN conferences. Since then, UIA students have participated in numerous different MUN conferences, both online and in person. After winning several awards, UIA applied to Harvard Model United Nations 2023 and was fortunately accepted. Nine UIA students flew to Boston to compete at Harvard MUN on January 26-29, 2023, and have spent several months diligently preparing. After gaining this valuable experience, UIA hopes to continue competing in other prestigious international conferences every school year going forward.

BUS INFORMATION

Parents are not allowed inside the school buses.

For Kindergarten students, parents/legal guardians MUST be at the bus stop wearing the lanyard for pick-up and drop.

If a parent/guardian is not present at the bus stop at the scheduled time for the bus arrival, the student cannot get off the bus. We will wait for 1 minute and try to contact parents. After that, we will bring the child back to Kiba campus.

Parents/Guardians will be notified and are required to visit the Kiba campus to pick up their child. In such a scenario, a penalty will be charged to the parents at the hourly rate of ¥11,000.

UIA will consider adding a new stop for students from Kindergarten to Grade 2 in the area of the existing routes.

The school bus may arrive earlier or later than the scheduled time, depending on traffic conditions. If the bus arrives early, they will wait until the scheduled departure time. If the bus does not arrive at the bus stop within 20 minutes after the scheduled arrival time, please contact 080-1187-9407.

Parents should report to the 3F to drop off or pick up their child.

If you want to cancel the bus service for the day, kindly inform us well in advance
