🟦 Position Objective

The Early Years homeroom teacher fosters an engaging, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment aligned with the Cambridge International Curriculum and the Cambridge Learner Attributes — developing students who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged learners.

The role of the Homeroom Teacher is to serve as a nurturing and inspiring leader within the classroom, creating a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment for young children. The primary objective of this role is to foster the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of each child, ensuring that they thrive both individually and as part of a classroom community. The Homeroom Teacher designs and implements age-appropriate activities that promote curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning, while also guiding students through foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving.

By working closely with parents, colleagues, and school leadership, the Homeroom Teacher will ensure effective communication and collaboration in support of each child’s growth.

🟦 Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver well-structured, student-centered lessons that meet Cambridge curriculum.

  • Use a variety of teaching strategies to support diverse learning styles and abilities. 

  • Incorporate inquiry-based, project-based, or experiential learning where appropriate. 

  • Maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and engagement. 

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of learners.

Assessment and Reporting

  • Administer assessments in line with school guidelines and Early Years Curriculum.

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth.

  • Prepare accurate report cards and attend parent-teacher conferences.

Classroom Management

  • Establish clear expectations for behaviour and learning. 

  • Implement the school’s behaviour and safeguarding policies consistently.

  • Support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of all students. 

  • Foster an inclusive, safe, and caring classroom environment.

  • Communicate regularly with parents to build strong school–home partnerships.

Professional Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with teaching teams to plan units, improve practice, and ensure curriculum continuity.

  • Provide leadership for their assigned class and may guide teaching assistants in daily tasks. This guidance should be collaborative and respectful, fostering a positive team environment rather than a hierarchical dynamic.

  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and training workshops.

  • Support co-curricular and extracurricular activities that enrich student development.

🟦 Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education 
  • Recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., M.Ed., or equivalent)
  • Minimum [2–3] years of full-time teaching experience.
  • Strong command of English (spoken and written).

Preferred:

  • Hoikushi(保育士)certificate
  • Experience teaching in an international or Cambridge school setting.
  • Familiarity with the Cambridge curriculum.
  • Competence in educational technology and digital learning tools.
  • Experience with student-centered, play-based pedagogy.

🟦 Child Welfare

UIA International School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The expectation is that all staff, volunteers, and contractors share this commitment. All staff undergo onsite training. Safe recruitment practice and reference checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed.

This will be used only if we cannot contact you directly at the time of injury or illness.

SOCIAL MEDIA

I hereby agree to permit UIA International School of Tokyo to take photographs of my child during school activities for the purpose of educating students, promoting the school, or promoting public education. The school may publish photographs of my child and/or samples of work done by my child in a variety of ways. The publications could include, but are not limited to, school newsletters (online and in hard copy), UIA International School of Tokyo’s Internet and Intranet websites, content-sharing websites such as Facebook or YouTube, annual school magazines and local newspapers. Published photographs and work will be viewable by third parties.

We agree to the following:

      1. The school may publish photographs of my child and samples of my child’s work as many times as it needs in the ways mentioned above.

      2. The child’s photograph may be reproduced either in color or in black and white.

      3. The school will not use my child’s photograph or samples of my child’s work for any purpose other than for the education of students or for the general promotion of public education and the school.

Any photographs taken by the school will be kept for no longer than is necessary for the above-mentioned purposes and will be stored and disposed of securely. Whilst every effort will be made to protect the identity of my child, UIA International School of Tokyo cannot guarantee that my child will not be able to be identified from the photograph or work.

BUS INFORMATION

Parents are not allowed inside the school buses.

For Early Years students, parents/legal guardians MUST be at the bus stop wearing the lanyard for pick-up and drop.

If a parent/guardian is not present at the bus stop at the scheduled time for the bus arrival, the student cannot get off the bus. We will wait for 1 minute and try to contact parents. After that, we will bring the child back to Kiba campus.

Parents/Guardians will be notified and are required to visit the Kiba campus to pick up their child. In such a scenario, a penalty will be charged to the parents at the hourly rate of ¥11,000.

UIA will consider adding a new stop for students from Early Years to Grade 2 in the area of the existing routes.

The school bus may arrive earlier or later than the scheduled time, depending on traffic conditions. If the bus arrives early, they will wait until the scheduled departure time. If the bus does not arrive at the bus stop within 20 minutes after the scheduled arrival time, please contact 080-1187-9407.

Parents should report to the 3F to drop off or pick up their child.

If you want to cancel the bus service for the day, kindly inform us well in advance

INVOICE INFORMATION

Payment will need to be made within five business days of the invoice being dispatched.

Please kindly note that once the payment is made, no refund will be provided.

The two-weeks discount is only applicable for parents enrolling for Week 1 + Week 2 at the time of application. In case a student adds Week 2 after enrolling in Week 1, the two-weeks discount will not be applicable.

Please note that the final deadline of payment is July 7, 2025 by 3PM

Enrollment will be automatically cancelled after those dates if payment has not been made.
