Be part of our growing family

We will grow as you grow, learn as you learn, succeed as you succeed.

We are delighted to see that you are considering UIA International School of Tokyo (UIA) for your child! Choosing the right school for your child is an important task and we want to get it right.
At UIA, we wholeheartedly believe that choosing the right school is a process as unique as you are. We tailor our Admissions experience to the unique needs of your family, and it is our pleasure to share what UIA can offer to your child. This document will help you through the admissions process. Our Admissions team is here to help, and will ensure that your decision-making process is well-informed.

Admissions Policy

– UIA International School of Tokyo welcomes applications on behalf of boys and girls from all educational backgrounds. We always recommend a visit to see the school before a registration is made.

– Admissions for the upcoming academic year will become available up to six months in advance of the start date. Please note that our school enrollment places are limited and waiting pools exist for most of the year groups. For the most updated information, please refer to our Current Seat Vacancies Spreadsheet that we update every 1st and 15th of the month.

– At least one of the parents should be able to speak and read English, as all school correspondences will be conducted in English mostly. If neither of the parents are able to speak English, they must bring their own interpreter each time. The school will not divulge any information to another parent if brought as an interpreter. Students with limited English ability will be accepted on a case-by-case decision, depending on the space-availability and prior educational experiences.

ESL students can be accepted with no knowledge of English up to Grade 8, provided they have a strong academic background and if the student performs well in our assessment test.

Special Needs

All students accepted to UIA International School of Tokyo are expected to function in the regular classroom independently.

It is important to note that the ongoing enrollment at UIA International School of Tokyo for students will be based upon the students’ ability to function within the regular program.

UIA International School of Tokyo does not have the facilities or resources to accommodate children who have significant learning, emotional or physical disabilities. Parents of a child receiving any special services, such as learning disabled instruction, remedial support, speech/language therapy, occupational/physical therapy, behavioral support, or seeing any educational specialist outside of the regular classroom, must disclose the additional services that are being implemented with your child.

Supporting documentation from a school psychologist, previous school, and/or pediatrician may be requested by administration to complete the admission process and/or continue at UIA International School of Tokyo.

Whilst every effort will be made to protect the identity of my child, UIA International School of Tokyo cannot guarantee that my child will not be able to be identified from the photograph or work.

BUS INFORMATION

Parents are not allowed inside the school buses.

For Kindergarten students, parents/legal guardians MUST be at the bus stop wearing the lanyard for pick-up and drop.

If a parent/guardian is not present at the bus stop at the scheduled time for the bus arrival, the student cannot get off the bus. We will wait for 1 minute and try to contact parents. After that, we will bring the child back to Kiba campus.

Parents/Guardians will be notified and are required to visit the Kiba campus to pick up their child. In such a scenario, a penalty will be charged to the parents at the hourly rate of ¥11,000.

UIA will consider adding a new stop for students from Kindergarten to Grade 2 in the area of the existing routes.

The school bus may arrive earlier or later than the scheduled time, depending on traffic conditions. If the bus arrives early, they will wait until the scheduled departure time. If the bus does not arrive at the bus stop within 20 minutes after the scheduled arrival time, please contact 080-1187-9407.

Parents should report to the 3F to drop off or pick up their child.

If you want to cancel the bus service for the day, kindly inform us well in advance
