🟦Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced English as a Primary Language (ESL) teacher to join our Primary school. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching ESL to secondary school students and will be committed to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. This role involves teaching ESL to students who are in the Cambridge primary school programme and collaborating with colleagues to ensure a cohesive educational experience.
The preferred candidate demonstrates the following:
- Experience teaching Cambridge International curriculum
- Ability to plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons to students based on students’ needs & abilities
- Practises effective classroom management
- Assigns, corrects, and marks students’ work
- Assesses, records, and reports students’ progress
- Uses data to guide learning involves analysing student performance to tailor instruction, monitor progress, and ensure every learner’s needs are met effectively.
- Participates actively in parent-teacher meetings
- Carries out other related activities and responsibilities
- Is capable with ICT management ie. online learning platforms, integration of educational technology in lessons, device use etc.
- Can fulfil additional school duties (bus duty, lunch monitor, recess, etc.)
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and Deliver Instruction: Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the Cambridge curriculum and effectively teach English as a Second Language to primary school students.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Prepare students for Cambridge ESL examinations, including assessing and evaluating student progress regularly.
- Classroom Management: Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning. Manage classroom behaviour and maintain discipline.
- Student Support: Provide additional support and resources to students who are struggling with English language acquisition. Develop individualised learning plans as necessary.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in ESL education and Cambridge curriculum standards.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teachers, administrators, and staff to support the overall mission and goals of the school. Participate in departmental meetings and school events.
- Parental Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and any concerns. Provide strategies for supporting English language learning at home
🟦Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, TESOL, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Certification: Valid teaching certification, with an endorsement in ESL/ELL preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching ESL at the primary level. Experience with the Cambridge curriculum is highly desirable.
