- Where are you currently based, what program have you enrolled in, and at which university? Tell us more about your study program and the university.
– I am currently studying Economics at The National University of Science & Technology in Islamabad, Pakistan. The Economics Department focuses on developing students’ analytical and critical thinking skills. The course covers a wide range of topics, including micro and macroeconomics, econometrics, development economics, and international trade. The faculty members are highly qualified and experienced in their fields, and they provide a supportive learning environment for students to thrive.
- What are some of your most memorable moments from your time at UIA?
– One of the most memorable aspects of my experience at UIA was the lunchtime interactions with my peers. We would gather with our lunches and engage in conversations that not only helped us get to know each other better but also allowed us to form a close-knit group of friends who came from diverse backgrounds, providing us all with unique perspectives and ways of thinking.
- What type of sports or non-academic activities were you involved with at UIA?
– During our PE class, we participated in a variety of sports such as soccer, basketball, and dodgeball. The time of Covid limited our ability to participate in outside sports, but the introduction of clubs allowed us to stay involved in some way. I, personally, was a member of a table tennis club in which a significant number of students participated in matches with one another. The club gatherings were always enjoyable, with great competition and frequent upsets, and were made even better by the presence of Mr. Pillai, who served as our coach.
- Given your experience, what sort of advice would you give to current UIA students?
– I think my time at UIA was extremely unique and taking advice from my experience would not be applicable to everyone but I can give some general advice to current students:
I feel that the teenage years of your life are critical in defining who you become in life therefore it is extremely important to spend these years with a plan.
Identify your goals and create a plan to achieve them. Your goals can be academic or personal. My advice would be to find want you to love to do in your free time and try to think if you can do something with it that society values.
Work hard and focus on your studies, this is the time to lay a strong foundation for your future. Put in the effort and take your studies seriously! I am someone who is guilty of sometimes not balancing studying different subjects and would only study what I had an interest in.
Develop positive relationships with your teachers and classmates. These relationships can be valuable resources from whom you can learn and spend quality time.
